Happy Adoption Day

March 24, 2016 was a beautiful sunny Spring day at the Rebecca Weitsman Memorial Dog Park. All the dogs and their owners were having a wonderful time. But what made the morning really special was the “forever home” ceremony that took place in the Agility Area

Adopted Beagle

Rescued from the awful circumstances of a “drug house,” this Beagle-mix was lucky enough to have been taken in by Tanner’s P.A.W.S., a 501(c)(3) dog rescue, shelter and adoption center serving the Corning, NY area.

The young pup then had the good fortune to come under the volunteer foster care of Bill from Waverly, pictured below along with his two charming daughters, Faith (10) and Katie (8). Named “Marshmallow” by the girls, the gentle 1-1/2 year old fellow will be going home for good with Becka, of Owego, as soon as they shake hands.

With whatever name is finally bestowed upon him, the Beagle will be joining Becka’s household as ‘big brother’ to her little Yorkie Poo, who is already an occasional visitor to the Dog Park. We hope they all will come visit us again soon.

Doggy Day Care is a wonderful thing

I had forgotten how helpful an occasional visit to doggy day care is. Not unlike my days with small children, sometimes one just needs to ask for help. This week I found myself strained by my responsibilities and felt bad that I was neglecting my fur girl. I gave Karen at Furry Friend Inn a call and arranged for a day of romping for Larka and peace of mind for me.

While I was off fulfilling my commitments, Larka enjoyed socializing with other dogs. When I dropped her off, she greeted Karen warmly and then scurried off to play with her furry friends.

At pick up time, I was greeted by a chorus line of tail waggers . Larka definitely showed signs of having a great time as she turned in early- right after dinner. A tired doggy is a well behaved doggy. I won’t wait so long to ask for help next time.
